Hi everyone I know it has been quite a while since I have written a book review I had something unfortunate happen. My time away could not be helped. Yet again, I decided to pick up a book I normally would not read. I guess 2014 is my year to try new things!
Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs is about a teenage boy named Jacob. Growing up he heard tales told by his grandfather. Everyone thinks they are stories but Jacob's grandfather insists they are real. When an event involving his grandfather takes place Jacob comes across something that questions whether what he has been told are stories or truth. So, he sets out on an adventure for answers, what he finds is more than he imagined.
I personally enjoyed this book. It started out slower than I would have liked but quickly picked up and took off running.
If you read this book and enjoy it the sequel is titled Hollow City.

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
I hope you are able to find time to sit down and enjoy a great book. For today's entry I have chosen to do my first stand-alone overview. She has a few other books out. However, none of them are part of a series.
A charming read Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell. I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I did not think I was going to like it.I decided to keep an open mind. The more I read the more I was compelled to find out more.
This book is about two teens (written in both points of view) who compliment one another. The boy is a normal teenager dealing with all the issues and awkwardness that come up as we grow up. The girl has been given a more difficult path in life. She has a monster of a stepfather, a passive yet loving mother and is the new girl in school. Together they find out what matters most and that regardless of how you see yourself there are others out there with different perspectives.

Growing up, I did not enjoy many fairy-tales. I did however have a few favorites! Beauty & The Beast is one of those favorites! So, you can imagine my excitement while writing this entry!
Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge is about a strong willed girl who is forced into a marriage to settle a debt her father owed. While she is being used by others for their own reasons. She herself realizes her true destiny. It is a more modern adult version of the fairytale with a twist.
I have to say I enjoyed this version far more than the version we all grew up knowing!
If you enjoy Cruel Beauty as much as I did Ms. Hodge has a Cruel Beauty Novella, Gilded Ashes. To be released April 1, 2014.

Heaven Is For Real By Todd Burpo
After seeing the movie trailer for Heaven Is For Real I decided to step out of my comfort zone and read my first and last spiritual book.
The book takes you on an emotional journey of a family who has been through several hardships. One hardship is put in the spotlight.
A young boy who experienced Heaven and then miraculously returned to continue his life with his family. The family then tries to make sense of his experience.
This book really hit me emotionally harder than I originally thought it would. I wish I had read this book sooner. I lost my youngest daughter in 2010. She was 24 days old when she passed. It still feels like it was yesterday. I usually do not recommend books. Generally, I read the book/series, give an overview, and let the reader decide. Every reader is unique. However, I am making an exception with this book. If you or someone you know has lost a child and/or are going through a difficult experience with loss, I highly suggest picking this book up.

The Antics Of Plum
With it being Sunday and Monday nibbling at our heels I decided on some book candy for today's entry. Without further delay....
Janet Evanovich is the author of the Wicked series (has absolutely nothing to do with the choosing of my blogger name.), the Fox & O'Hare series, Barnaby & Hooker series, some stand alone romance books and of course the series of topic for this entry her Plum series. It can be read as a series or stand alone. She recaps the main details in every book. Personally it drives me Bonkers! Though I can understand why she does it. However, if you read any of this series as a stand alone you should know there are some references made from previous books.
The book is told in the perspective of Stephanie Plum who is a not very street smart bounty hunter and quite frankly if she were not a character in a book would not see the following day. Due to her job she gets into some CRAZY yet sticky situations. She has the interest of two men Ranger who is an ex Special Forces and Joe Morelli A bad boy turned local cop. She has chemistry with both in different ways. The supporting characters also add to the fun and humor of this compilation to make it that much more enjoyable.
These are my go to books when I am just wanting to unwind, distress and relax after a difficult day and need a laugh. If you are looking for a series to do the same you will enjoy these books as well. There are 20 books in the series out currently. Top Secret Twenty One is said to be released June of 2014.

First Blog Entry: Jeaniene Frost Books
Growing up I hated reading books that lets be honest should have come with a pillow and a blanket. I am sure we have all read books that were more of a struggle than an enjoyment. I need that hook from the start or I will not bother. If you are like me you probably have a list of authors, you generally stick with. I see other book recommendations out there but they do not interest the selective reader in me. The crazy odd ball that I am I read whatever pulls me in. I pay no attention to the targeted age group when it comes to selecting a book. I decided to start this blog and share my list of authors who made the cut. I will give my honest and blunt opinions of each. I will do my best not to mention spoilers. (Each book mentioned will be a separate post.) Note to parents: Any recommendations I make is up to you the parent whether you allow your child(ren) to read it or not.
First up is Jeaniene Frost! (Paranormal) I love all her books! All her series tie in together. (Except her new Broken Destiny series to be released in August 2014) I have yet to be disappointed by any of her books. It is strange for me. I typically only have one favorite series from each author. Mrs Frost has the following series: The Night Huntress, Night Huntress World and Night Prince. If I HAD to pick one it would be the Night Huntress series. The first of seven is Halfway To The Grave.
The book is told in Cat Crawford's perspective. She is half human half vampire who happens to hunt the undead but is not given much choice but to work with Bones who is a vampire. The humor, and chemistry in this series is unique. It is very action packed. I found it hard to put down and it left me wanting more. In this series you will meet some intriguing and funny characters a long the way in some crazy predicaments. I could go on and on about this series but I do not want to spoil it for you. If you read the first and want to continue reading the series the reading order is as follows:
